Nuggets also hold a Team Fit Clinic to teach the importance of fitness

DENVER, Nov. 24, 2008 -- The Denver Nuggets held a special Team Fit fitness clinic at John F. Kennedy High School on Nov. 24. Joined by Nuggets players Carmelo Anthony, Nene and J.R. Smith and assistant coach Jamahl Mosley, Nuggets Strength & Conditioning Coach Steve Hess presented a gift of weight room equipment to Kennedy High School on behalf of the team. The Nuggets donated more than $10,000 in equipment to the school’s athletic department to outfit its training facility.

“John F. Kennedy High School is delighted and excited by the very generous donation of weight equipment from the Denver Nuggets. The weight equipment will have a tremendous impact not only on our athletic program, but on our weight training and physical education classes as well,” said Brian Makowski, Kennedy High School Athletic Director. “The entire Commander Community expresses its sincerest gratitude to the Denver Nuggets and looks forward to a continued partnership with them.”

During the event, the coaches and players hosted a fitness clinic as part of the Nuggets Team Fit program, which promotes an active lifestyle and healthy eating habits among Denver area students. The students learned about using the new equipment and received some fitness tips from the pros. The visit concluded with a Q&A session and autographs.
