DENVER, Oct. 18 -- The entire Denver Nuggets team tipped off the 2007-08 NBA season with two great community events involving students at Metro State College of Denver on Thursday, Oct. 18. They began the day mingling with college students as a part of the annual Paint the Town community event and finished the day hosting their annual Open Practice for elementary students.

During the annual Paint the Town event, the Nuggets spent time meeting fans in the Metro State College Tivoli student union. Players signed autographs in the bookstore, handed out "Dippin’ Dots" ice cream in the food court and played a few rounds of pool and NBA Live ’08 on XBox 360 with students in the game room.

Immediately following the Paint the Town event was the Nuggets annual Open Practice in the Auraria Events Center. The team hosted nearly 2,000 elementary school students (3rd-5th graders) from Denver Public Schools at this event. The kids cheered throughout the entire session as the players went through their normal practice drills. Nuggets guards J.R. Smith and Von Wafer also gave the students a treat by demonstrating a few awesome dunks. Marcus Camby and Eduardo Najera wrapped up the special event by addressing the students in English and Spanish about the importance of doing well in school. As an extra incentive, students received gift bags that include a Nuggets T-shirt, school folder with Nuggets schedule and Nuggets-themed math, science and geography worksheets.

For teachers of the DPS cIasses that attended Open Practice: Listed below are links for the math, writing and geography trivia worksheets that have been created for your students. Teachers are welcome to do the activities as a class or individually if they would like to participate. The completed forms need to be sent to the address listed below by Friday, Nov. 2.
