What does it take to become a member of the Detroit Pistons? Sure, great athletic skills might get you to the NBA, but it takes more than that to join the Pistons. It takes high moral character and a strong work ethic, on and off the court.

This is the message Coach Steve Moreland has brought to thousands of elementary school students across Michigan for more than a decade. We hope your students, faculty and staff find the special meaning in being a part of the PISTONS that we do.

Coach Moreland’s “PISTONS” character assembly is just one facet of our involvement with your school when you become a Detroit Pistons Partner School. Scheduling permits only 40 elementary schools to receive this program each year. Don’t pass on this unique experience for your students!

There are three components to the Pistons’ Partners Program.

The “PISTONS” Character Assembly
Coach Steve will conduct a 40-minute interactive assembly with your students. Entering his 13th season as Director of Development and Camps & Clinics for the Detroit Pistons, Coach Steve is a master motivator who has brought this program to hundreds of schools across Michigan. Each school that partakes in the program will receive an authentic Detroit Pistons plaque acknowledging you as a “Top 40 Detroit Pistons Partner School.” To make sure Coach Steve’s message stays with your students, each classroom will also receive a 24x18” Detroit Pistons poster.

The After-School Clinic
On the same day as your assembly, Coach Steve will hold a 75-minute after-school clinic, where boys and girls (grades K-5) will have fun learning basic basketball skills and taking part in games for prizes.

The cost of the clinic for each student is $25, for which the student will receive a Detroit Pistons T-shirt and poster, a Detroit Pistons All-Star Certificate for completing the clinic and one ticket to an upcoming Pistons’ regular-season home game. No, we don’t expect your students to get to The Palace by themselves! Additional tickets are available for the discounted price of $20.

Pistons Game Night Presentation
When you come to the game (you’ll have two games to choose from, whichever is most compatible with your school’s schedule) we will acknowledge your school during a pre-game presentation with your principal and students down on the Pistons’ actual court. Anyone else from your school - faculty, family, and friends - are encouraged to take advantage of the discounted $20 tickets and take part in the fun of Pistons Game Night!
