With the continued success of the Philadelphia 76ers and Comcast SportsNet's "Drive for Kids Program," the community initiative has grown to include five in-arena collection drives that are aimed to assist people in the Delaware Valley. The two entities hosted a food drive, toy drive, coat drive, book drive, and a hat drive throughout the basketball season.
The NBA Read to Achieve program is designed to help young people develop a life long love of reading. Read to Achieve promotes the value of reading and online literacy, as well as encouraging families and adults to read regularly with young people.

The 76ers Read to Achieve program, presented by Pepsi, consists of various events including player appearances, school appearances, and book drives. Throughout the season, players, Hip-Hop, and front office staff reach out to more than 15,000 kids and donate over 5,000 books.

The Philadelphia 76ers have started another season of their Hometown Hero Program. Take a look at the deserving candidates who have been picked as recipients of the 2007-08 76ers Hometown Hero: In the Spirit of Alex Scott Award. Anyone can nominate a neighbor, friend or relative who is a firefighter, policeman, rescue worker, or just an everyday hero like a teacher or community leader making a difference. The Ambassador of 76ers Basketball, World B. Free continues to score big in the communities of Philadelphia and the surrounding Delaware Valley. Entering his fifth season with Sixers, Free travels to schools, recreation centers and playgrounds in the tri-state area teaching the fundamentals of basketball and life. One of Free's main involvements is the 76ers Summer Hoops Tour.
