HISTORY
Warriors owner and CEO Christopher Cohan has been dedicated to continuing Golden State’s longstanding tradition of positive community involvement since purchasing the club in 1995. During his tenure, the Warriors have developed numerous outreach programs and have contributed financial and in-kind assistance to thousands of nonprofit organizations. In 1997, Christopher and Angela Cohan spearheaded the creation of the Warriors Foundation to further expand the organization’s outreach into the surrounding communities. This season the Foundation will continue to host in-arena and on-line auctions and other charitable endeavors in support of its community initiatives and activities.

Beginning in 2000-01, the Annual Angela and Christopher Cohan Community Service Award has been presented to the Warriors player who best exemplifies the spirit of community service through his outstanding commitment of time, service and financial support to children and families in the Bay Area community. Past recipients of the award include Jason Richardson (2004-05, 2005-06), Avery Johnson (2003-04), Antawn Jamison (2002-03), Adonal Foyle (2001-02) and Larry Hughes (2000-01).
