PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy was named the NBA’s Western Conference Player of the Week, it was announced Monday by the NBA.

Roy guided the Trail Blazers to a 4-0 week, including road victories against the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings, and home wins vs. the Kings and Toronto Raptors.

The fourth-year Trail Blazer and three-time NBA All-Star averaged 27.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.25 steals while shooting 56.7% (38-67 FG) from the floor in four starts. He led Portland in scoring three times, rebounds once and assists twice in four games last week.

Roy, 25, netted 41 points (14-22 FG), eight rebounds, three assists and two steals in a 110-105 comeback win at Golden State, marking his fifth career game of 40-plus points (including playoffs). Continue Reading>>>

Nicolas Batum scored 22 points, making five of six 3-point attempts, and the Portland Trail Blazers won their fourth straight with a 109-98 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night.

“(Batum) got back to focusing on the defensive end of the floor and the offense, he allowed the offense to come to him," said Nate McMillan. "I felt like in the last week or so, he’s pressing to match that (career-high in scoring) performance in Minnesota. He allowed the game to just come to him. He’s going to get open shots just because who he’s on the floor with."

LaMarcus Aldridge added 22 points and 12 rebounds, with eight of those being offensive rebounds, for the Trail Blazers, who have won nine of 11.

"I think half of my shots tonight were off of offensive rebounds," said Aldridge, who scored 16 points in the first half. "I felt like they were trying to key in on Brandon so much tonight because he had killed them up there, so every time they shot it, I was just trying to go to the boards. Most of the time I was just open so I just tried to finish.”

Brandon Roy had 20 points, five assists and two rebounds. Andre Miller added 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists as well. All five Trail Blazers starters scored in double figures.
